CENTRAL VIRGINIA DIVISION AFL DIRECTOR QUALIFICATION

American Fencing League members who fence in the Central Virginia Division may qualify to serve as Directors to officiate in Central Virginia Division events.  The Director qualification program is a three level program:

Director 3 (Apprentice Director) - a Director at this level is a Director in initial training.  Director 3s are qualified to direct preliminary rounds of competitions and to serve as relief Directors.

• Must pass the Director's examination with a score of 90% or better.
• Must direct a minimum of 10 bouts under the supervision of a Director qualified at the Director 2 or Director 1 level.

Director 2 (Director) - a Director at this level is competent to officiate preliminary rounds of any competition and finals of events which are not qualifiers for the National Championships.

• Must direct a minimum of 100 bouts in Division competitions as documented in a fencer's logbook.
• Must pass a practical examination administered by a Director qualified at the Director 1 level.

Director 1 (Senior Director) - a Director at this level is competent to train and examine new Directors and to officiate at any level in Division competitions.

• Must direct a minimum of 500 bouts in Division competitions as documented in a fencer's logbook.
• Must conduct a practical examination of a candidate for Director 2 under the supervision of a Director qualified at the Director 1 level.
